What's Happening...


We’re building a new street on a slope. People here like slopes. They like to climb up, ski down; bike up, glide down.

It’s a walking only street starting at Route 343 and running down to Lower Hirafu. Lined with retail shops and hotel residences, it also has apartments above and lots of car park spaces below.

A scenic 2-3 hours drive from Sapporo’s Chitose International Airport, Hirafu can be found at the base of Mount Niseko-Annupuri. In Hirafu, we’re on Route 343, 100m from the Ace Family Quad Lift. You can drive here, take the bus, cycle or walk. Enter from above, from below or from the side. There’s lots of ways to get in and lots of stuff to do when you’re here. We’ll let you know when we’re ready to open.

Aruku-zaka Street has been designed to be sensitive to the scale and architectural styling of Hirafu Village. Whilst wanting to create a landmark development, building masses and facades have been designed to work harmoniously with the current village environment. This community focused project is sensitive to what has gone before and hopes to create a positive context for the future.

The proposed project located in Central Hirafu, in the Abuta district of Kutchan town, will be an important part of Metropoly's development strategy in Niseko. The mixed-use development seeks to create an environment that complements Hirafu's unique character and atmosphere. The collection of appropriately scaled buildings organized around a vibrant pedestrian street will have residential units, a collection of lifestyle and retail brands as well as a large variety of food and beverage outlets. Public spaces, laneways, terraces all branching off the main pedestrian street will be designed to cater for events and gatherings in winter and summer.

Vehicular transfer from New Chitose Airport in Sapporo is a short two hour journey with breath-taking views of Mount Yotei and Lake Shikotsu along the way. Once completed, owners, visitors and guests will have direct vehicular access off Route 343 and will be able to utilize the substantial amount of parking spaces underground.

The site area is approximately 29,148 sqm and the total allowable developmental gross floor area is 58,678 sqm. The development is anticipated to be delivered in phases. After obtaining the necessary approvals and permits from relevant authorities in Japan, Disaster Prevention Works were completed in 2019 with full construction to follow in 2020. The expected construction completion date of Phase 1 is 2023 with full project completion expected by 2024.
